Chemical Injection Bespoke Project Build - Injection Rate Control Device
ICR’s Chemical Injection business unit was approached by a North Sea Operator to assist with a chemical injection problem on an Injection Rate Control Device (IRCD) system
Background This IRCD system was supplying a combined scale / corrosion inhibitor, however the multiple valve system on the panel was ineffective, resulting in overdosing and under dosing of certain systems within the process.
The operator was concerned about the ineffective chemical dosing and the potential integrity problems this posed.
Scope ICR were requested to provide a suitable long term chemical injection solution to bypass the existing IRCD system and ensure the correct dosage parameters were achieved.
Solution Our Chemical Injection team provided a chemical injection system complete with multiple air driven metering pumps. Each injection point was given a dedicated pump and calibration gauge to ensure that an accurate and optimum dosing level was achieved. This also provided a control mechanism for the overall system that was not available with the previous injection package.
The unit was designed as two compact 12 pump rack frames to ensure the unit supplied would fit the space available on the platform.
Results / Benefits The project was delivered within the timescales agreed with the customer.
Since installation the unit has resolved the injection issues and has assured the corrosion / scale inhibition effectiveness throughout the process facilities.
