We are looking for a full-time Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Quickflange™ team in Carnforth.
The Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering support primarily to the Quickflange™ business unit. To assess current and future designs and calculations for the whole Quickflange™ business. This will also include training and transfer of knowledge of Quickflange™ technology for other team members in various locations.
Develop a Design Basis & development parameters for new products within the Quickflange™ business unit in accordance with relevant piping specifications.
Technical support for sales in reviewing new scope of works and authorising correct supply of equipment for all locations.
Producing clear and concise reports relating to new product developments for the Quickflange™ range of tooling
Producing procedures relating to the operation, maintenance and handling of Quickflange™ products where applicable.
To assist in the cross training of Engineers at various locations within the Quickflange™ business unit to elevate the knowledge level and understanding of the limits of use.
Interpret the ASME code and translate that into sound design criteria to ensure a safe robust product range.
Design of new products, including; design calculations, development equipment & manufacturing drawings.
Develop a design basis for all iterations within the Quickflange™ range.
Establish parameters for design on any new products going forward.
To ensure all development work is qualified in line with the latest procedures.
Checking of calculations, designs & manufacturing drawings.
Project management of new product development where appropriate.
Technical support to other personnel/departments within Quickflange™.
Provide engineering supports for other business units within the ICR group if/when required.
Accurate records kept for all products, documentation including test reports, calculations, design basis etc.
Timely delivery of new product development ensuring compliance with relevant specifications and within agreed budget.
Accurate and timely responses to technical queries raised by other personnel within Quickflange™, specifically authorisation of designs for new scopes of works
A concise design basis that allows other Engineering Team members to add iterations to the current range using relevant parameters and values drawn from the document
Mandatory Training Requirements:
Degree or Masters in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline
Ideally CEng or working towards such accreditation
Previous relevant engineering experience.
Extensive use of 3D modelling software (ideally Solidworks)
Deep understanding of FEA (preferably ANSYS)
Working knowledge of ASME B31.3 and ASME BPVC Section VIII div 1 and 2
