Design Engineer - Carnforth

We are looking for a full time Design Engineer to join the team, based out of our Carnforth office.

The Design Engineer will provide engineering support across the ICR business and take responsibility for new product development projects.

The main tasks and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to the following:

Main tasks:

  • Design & development of new products across the ICR business in accordance with relevant piping specifications. This will include completion of capex forms, detailing all the costs and timings associated with the new developments (CT sheets).
  • Technical support for sales in reviewing new scope of works and authorising correct supply of equipment. Manage the review and coordination of application sheets.
  • Producing clear and concise reports to relating to the new product development.
  • Producing procedures relating to the operation, maintenance and handling of ICR products where applicable.
  • To assist in the cross training of Engineers at various locations.
  • To ensure all drawings/calculations are filed according to ICR procedures.
  • Assessing Application Forms and ensuring the right product is delivered for the specified parameters.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design of new products, including; design calculations, development equipment & manufacturing drawings.
  • To ensure all development work is qualified in line with the latest procedures.
  • Checking of calculations, designs & manufacturing drawings.
  • Project management of new product development and current project work.
  • Technical and Engineering support across ICR.
  • Accurate records kept for all products, documentation including test reports, calculations, design basis etc.
  • To attend and participate in weekly and monthly prioritisation meetings.

Key skills, attributes and experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent discipline.
  • Previous relevant Engineering experience
  • Extensive use of 3D Modelling software (Ideally Solidworks)
  • Team player
  • Strong ability to multi-task
  • Flexible
  • Problem solving skills
  • Project delivery / Project Management experience
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
