In May this year, ICR kicked off a staff walking challenge as part of our Occupational Health strategy to promote health and wellbeing in the workplace. 'Walk the icr-world' saw teams of 6 employees compete across the business by combining their daily steps to see how far around the world they could walk.
Pedometers were distributed and teams in Aberdeen, Kendal, Stavanger, Abu Dhabi and Houston took part in the 4-week challenge which proved to be a huge success as teams enthusiastically worked together to reach personal and group walking targets to beat competing teams.
Six team completed the challenge and an impressive 13,873,142 total steps were achieved which is approx. 6569 miles. The winning team was The Holy Walkamoles who really stepped up to the mark totalling a whopping 3,479,053 steps in 30 days! Together as a team, Gemma Bremner, Jackie Lee, Kyle Wilson, Hollie Lawson, Susie Mair and Scott Watson travelled to Morocco - Casablanca on foot making up an impressive 1647 miles with an average team steps of 695,810 per week!
Overall, the individual winner was Bill Elrick. Bill really did go the extra mile and walked himself all the way to Bergen in Norway! Bill was regularly clocking up over 20,000 steps per day and averaged 70 miles per week!
To mark this achievement, ICR donated £500 to our chosen charity of 2018 - UCAN. Gayle Stephen of UCAN joined us today to receive the cheque and meet the winners of 'Walk the icr-world'.
Thanks again to all those who participated. ICR has certainly gone the distance!
